Prepare to embark on an exhilarating cultural journey as Åbolly Dance School introduces the vibrant art of Kathak. Originating from Northern India, Kathak is a dance form that delves deep into the region's culture, spirituality, and philosophy.

 

Immerse yourself in the captivating tales and extraordinary history that have shaped Kathak into one of the eight classical dance styles of India. The term "Kathak" derives from the Vedic Sanskrit word "Katha," meaning "story." In ancient Northern India, Kathakars, or traveling bards, enchanted audiences with their captivating renditions of great epics and timeless mythology through dance, song, and music.

 

In the upcoming Kathak classes at Åbolly Dance School, you will discover the art of storytelling through intricate hand movements, mesmerizing footwork, graceful gestures and captivating rhythm. With a focus on facial expressions, Kármen will guide you in evoking a wide range of emotions, depicting gods and goddesses, and weaving tales through the artistry of Kathak.

 

By the end of the term in December, you will have the opportunity to showcase your newfound skills through a mesmerizing composition. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the culture and let the rhythm guide you on a transformative artistic voyage.
